From every state excluding truck, motorcycle, bus, government, and specialty.
Missouri's current standard license plate, introduced in 2018–2019 to celebrate the state's bicentennial (1821–2021), features a red, white, and blue design with wave graphics representing rivers. The plates are manufactured in aluminum with the state seal, the "Show-Me State" slogan, and a 6-character alphanumeric format (typically 2 letters, 1 number, 1 letter, 2 numbers: e.g., AB1 C2D).
Key Features of the Current Plate:
Design: The top and bottom feature red and blue wavy bands, with the state seal in the center.
Text & Slogan: "Missouri" is at the top, with "Show-Me State" at the bottom.
Commemorative Dates: The plate displays "1821–2021" to mark 200 years of statehood.
Plate Structure: Standard plates are embossed (raised lettering), while many specialty plates are flat.
Numbering: The format generally uses an AB1 C2D pattern. The letter "O" is omitted to avoid confusion with the number zero (0).
Requirements: Both front and rear plates are required.
Background and Usage:
These plates replaced the previous bluebird design.
The plates are produced by the Missouri Department of Corrections.
Renewal tabs indicating the year are placed on the plate.
A "Temporary Third License Plate" is available if a rear bike rack or similar device obscures the main plate.
